This year in review:
Hello!  Or should I say Shalom?  I'm Jackie, UE Hillel's current president, and I just thought I'd post a few highlights from this past school year now that we have this blog.
In the beginning of last fall, members of Hillel were invited as guests to attend Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur dinners (before the fasting began, of course) at the home of a local Jewish couple, Mr. and Mrs. Abrams. We had wonderful homecooked meals and attended services at the temple afterwards.
Toward the end of the semester, we threw a Chanukah party that was open to the entire campus (and our friends from USI), which was a great success.  Not only did those in attendance enjoy the latkes we made, but they were also able to learn about the history of the holiday through our fun and educational presentation.  The Maccabeats made it easy for us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSJCSR4MuhU
Second semester, we took it easy.  We had a Hillel bonding event for Purim, equipped with hamantaschen and a Havdalah service.  We look forward to holding even more events next year!!!!

Disclaimer: The "FREE FOOD" mentioned above refers to cultural Jewish food (aka: Jew food) such as latkes, hamantaschen, matzah, etc., as well as regular foods like candy and pizza.  Like Jews everywhere, here in Evansville, we love food and fun!!!!

Welcome to UE Hillel's blog!!!!  UE Hillel is happy to offer a sense of community to the Jewish students at the University of Evansville.  In the fall of 2011, we were recognized by Hillel's SOREF Initiative as a Small and Mighty Campus!!!!
